Presentacio del llibre del Globetour a Vic

junio 6, 2010

Europa”

European Design Festival; Rotterdam

abril 15, 2010

The Rotterdam design scene has really welcomed the festival and the program is richer and more exciting than ever before. There are parallel activities to choose from, from dusk till dawn.

ED-Conference

The 3 day conference is focusing on best practice. Follow each project from the first meeting with the client through to the creative process, the planning, the brainstorming, the execution and the feedback received. Fifteen speakers from fifteen different European countries means that you are bound to watch a very special conference with a truly pan-European approach. Presentations are diverse enough to include as many aspects of communication design as possible from Ukrainian calendars and Spanish posters all the way to Finnish illustrations. Find the full list of speakers here.

Award evening

This is the finale of the festival and it kicks off with a formal reception in the Rotterdam City Hall where you will also be able to see an exhibition from Rotterdam Design Platform. The actual ceremony takes place in De Doelen and promises to celebrate the best of European design for the past year. Of course the evening ends in a grand winners’ party at the club Dado.

3 seminars & workshops

Heldenavond is Dutch for Heroes’ evening. It’s an annual event, where students from Willem de Kooning Academy, Rotterdam University invite their hero designers to present themselves and their work. It concludes with the opening party of the festival.
Visible Creativity in Rotterdam is a debate in an old church organized by Design Platform Rotterdam. In what way are the circumstances and the city support different in Rotterdam, Berlin, Barcelona and Stockholm?
A Bar Camp is an open source event, a speakers corner for media people, designers, artists and activists.

6 exhibitions

The design community of Rotterdam is highlighting the local design scene during the festival with not less than 6 exhibitions. “Ideas from Rotterdam” exhibits winners of the local annual design prize in the City Hall. VIVID gallery has invited KesselsKramer. Willem Kooning Academy Rotterdam University is involved in all remaining 4 exhibitions. Their students have designed new European flags that will be hauled in the Boobjes outdoor flag museum. “Viral Communication” is a video presentation during breaks of the conference in De Doelen. “Bigger than Dutch Design” is the result of a project week exhibited at De Doelen. “BLAAK10 – Academy’s gallery” is three exhibitions in one: View on the West, Stemwijzer in beeld and North Sea Jazz.

4 Design Walks

The Design Walks have become the most popular event of previous festivals and the tickets for some walks are already sold out. A design walk is a trip on foot, bicycle or water taxi to the offices of 2-3 local design agencies. Meet the designers on their home ground in small groups led by a design guide. “Design Walk WdKA” goes to BLAAK10, Karel Doormanhof and OONA. “Design Walk RDM Campus ” has only one stop and is by water taxi to a renovated design center. “Design Walk Rotterdam West” is by bicycle to 75B, Koehorst in ‘t Velt and ping-pong Design. “Design Walk Rotterdam South” takes you by bicycle or water taxi to Studio Dumbar, Strange Attractors and MVRDV.

2 design pubs

And if the events above are not enough for some heavy interaction with people from around the globe, how about hanging out with them in the evenings as well? Following feedback from previous years’ editions, we have arranged for two design pubs (one evening even focusing on the Eurovision Song Contest).

Student discount

This year students are offered 60% discount on all conference tickets!
This offer is valid for a limited number of tickets.

Europa en Papel; Madrid

abril 14, 2010

Organizan:
Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales
Biblioteca Nacional de España
Comisarios:
Marina Alfonso Mola y Carlos Martínez Shaw
Horario:
Martes a sábados: de 10 a 21 horas
Domingos y festivos: de 10 a 14 horas
Lunes, cerrado.

1. The ED-Awards boast the most qualified jury around, composed of representatives from the leading European design magazines. They are design journalists and critics, whose daily work is precisely to recognise and promote the best of communication design internationally.

2. It is truly a panEuropean competition. Last year submissions came from 29 different European countries (with the top country submitting less than 20% of the total number) and winners came from 21 countries (with the top country achieving about 25% of total prizes). The jury members themselves come from 13 different countries.

3. The ED-Awards receive the widest publicity in the design awards field. Agencies and designers who excel here, get the best coverage available. The reason is simple: the ED-Awards are based on a network of design media, ie the means of communication themselves.

Blogging Cultural en Europa

mayo 20, 2009
