Meet Honda’s ASIMO in Deep Space; Linz

septiembre 1, 2010

Honda’s humanoid robot ASIMO will make its public debut in Austria at this year’s Ars Electronica Festival. September 2-8, festivalgoers will have the opportunity to experience an extraordinary demonstration of ASIMO’s capabilities. The site of this up-close-and-personal human-robot encounter is Deep Space in the Ars Electronica Center.

“Deep Symphony” is a project developed jointly by researchers and artists at the Ars Electronica Futurelab and Honda’s R&D people. This application enables visitors to interactively explore an audiovisual environment together with ASIMO, a humanoid robot.

The program of the Festival can be found here.

The World in 100 Years. AE; Linz

junio 16, 2010

June 16-September 19, 2010
Ars Electronica Center Linz

(Linz / Austria, June 16, 2010) Our longing to know the future is timeless. Just like our burning desire to co-determine and change the course of events transpiring in this world. The exhibition “The World in 100 Years – A Journey through the History of the Future” pays tribute to some great thinkers and activists who were ahead of their times, men and women who have displayed creativity, courage and resourcefulness in their commitment to a vision of the future. We begin by presenting Albert Robida (FR) and Paul Otlet (BE), two prominent visionaries of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Then we shift the spotlight to contemporary artists and scientists and their NEXT IDEAS. “The World in 100 Years” will run from June 16 to September 19, 2010 at the Ars Electronica Center Linz.

A.E. at the Festival México 2010; MExico DF

marzo 20, 2010

Ars Electronica is present at two of Festival de Mexico’s prime venues: the Laboratorio Arte Alameda, a former church that now provides an extraordinary setting for digital art, and the recently renovated Centro Cultural de España. Ars Electronica’s “dynamic (in)position” exhibition contrasts current trends in digital art with selected works from its extensive archive.

The show runs from March 17 to May 11, 2010, and is Ars Electronica’s most comprehensive engagement ever in Latin America. Major roles in making this happen were played by the Austrian Cultural Forum in Mexico, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber’s “go international” initiative.
