The London Studio is looking for an exceptional candidate to work as a Technical Artist within the EyeToy Group. The candidate should have an all round 3D ability and deep knowledge of art and animation pipelines.
The candidate should be a strong communicator who can effectively bridge the art and programming disciplines. Their role will include setting up and maintaining the art production workflow, create custom tools to improve the efficiency of the team, and research and oversee the implementation of rendering techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a bridge facilitating effective communication between the Code and Art disciplines
- Working with the Art Director & Lead Programmer help refine and optimize processes and pipelines for game asset creation including performance monitoring and standard setting
- R&D new techniques and solutions to complex visual problems posed by Art Director, game design/direction
- Collaborate with the art director, graphic programmers, and Studio technical art team in developing and defining triple-A quality graphics
- Advice on the latest thinking, best practice and future targets for Art Technology.
- Prototype new ideas and visualisations as placeholders before final graphics code is in place
- Collaborate with animation and character teams to create character setups and control rig solutions, and character & animation pipelines
- Support creating character control rigs, setup & weighting for character models and props
- Dissect, interpret and communicate complex topics to all parts of the team
- Document and report problems and solutions and to the team
Required Skills:
- Strong overall artistic ability (composition, colour, 3D modelling, texturing, etc.) and an understanding of general artistic aesthetics
- Strong understanding of rendering, budgets and other technical issues related to performance
- Experience in developing material, shaders, and effects for current gen projects and platforms
- Exceptional troubleshooting skills
- A strong understanding of time management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Any additional programming skills or a strong technical and aesthetic understanding of in-game special FX are highly beneficial
Graphic Designer – Middleweight
at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe in London
Sony Computer Entertainment requires a talented and highly creative Graphic Designer to join our Creative Services team located within our London Studio in Soho.
Working within the Graphic Design Department the successful applicant will work on PlayStation®3, PlayStation®Portable (PSP), PlayStation®Network based games and interactive products/services.
Key Responsibilities; Interactive Design/Production, Brand Identity, Print and Packaging Design, Motion Graphics.
All candidates will need to have a degree in Graphic Design or of equivalent status. Must be fluent with all commonly used design software, highly creative with a keen eye for Typography. Experience/knowledge in User Interface design would be advantageous for this particular role.
Candidates must also demonstrate good communication and organisational skills.
